ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's lacrosse team picked up a 15-5 win in its home opener over SUNY-Canton on Friday afternoon.
 
Alena Catka led the Knights with four goals and an assist. She also grabbed 11 draw controls and eight ground balls. Maggie Miller and Rachel Roane each scored three goals and tallied two assists. Gracie Kucia finished with two goals and two assists. Sarah Kiraly made five saves in net for the win.
 
Kucia scored the first goal of the game midway through the first quarter, off an assist from Catka. Catka followed with her first goal of the game for a 2-0 Knights lead. Catka scored two more times in the first quarter and Neumann held a 5-1 lead after one.
 
SUNY-Canton scored to open the second quarter. The Knights scored four goals in the quarter, including two by Roane, for a 9-2 score at halftime.
 
The Knights continued their run of eight straight goals with the first four of the third quarter. Miller netted the final two goals and Neumann took a 13-2 lead into the fourth.
 
SUNY-Canton scored the first two goals of the fourth quarter. Krista Geibler and Miller capped the scoring for the Knights. The Roos rounded out the scoring for the game and the 15-5 final.
 
Neumann (1-3) heads to Eastern next Wednesday for action starting at 3:30 PM.
