NEWTOWN, Pa. – On Thursday morning, the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) announced their postseason awards for Men's Hockey and four Neumann University athletes were honored. Goaltender
Christian Green was named the MAC Rookie of the Year and was selected to the All-Conference First team.
Lucas Culhane was also named to the First Team while both
Max Donohoe and
Sonny DiNubile earned All-Conference Second team honors.
Green led the conference with a goals against average of 1.65, which was also seventh in all of Division III. His save percentage also ranked at the top of the MAC at .947, placing him third in the nation. Both of those marks place the first year at the top of the single-season program list. Overall this season, he had a record of 12-1-2 with a conference best four shutouts. He was named the MAC Defensive Player of the Week twice this year.
Culhane was the top assist man in the MAC, finishing with 27 helpers while adding seven goals. He averaged 1.17 assists per game which is second in Division III. His 34 points got him the second spot on the conference leader's list. He also contributed defensively with 25 blocked shots, which was second on the team.
Donohoe led the Knights and the conference with 17 goals on the season. He added 11 assists for 28 points, putting him tied for fifth in the MAC. Six of his goals were scored on the power play, placing his tied for second in the conference. The sophomore was named the Offensive Player of the Week in consecutive weeks, on February 3
rd and 10
th.
DiNubile had a strong season on the blue line with two goals and 12 assists for 14 points. His plus/minus rating of +11 was tied for the best on the Knights as is tied for eighth in the MAC.
The Knights will be looking for their first conference championship since the 2012-2013 season when they host Stevenson University in the MAC title game, this Saturday at 7:00 PM.
