Q: How long have you been playing your sport?
A: I have been playing tennis for 9 years now.
Q: What is your best memory playing your sport before Neumann?
A: My favorite memory of playing tennis is from my senior year of high school. I was playing first doubles with my partner in the PCL championship match. We were at match point, and I drop my racquet in the middle of the rally. I bend down to pick it up as the point is still live and my partner jumps over me to make the return and as I am standing up. I react just in time to hit the match winning volley.
Q: What does it mean to you to be named Captain?
A: Being named captain is something that I don't take lightly. To me, being a captain means I am a trusted teammate and someone people can turn to on and off the court with anything that may need.
Q: What is your major and why?
A: I am an Early Education/Special Education major. I picked this major because I have always felt at home in the classroom. I have always loved school and learning new things and I am excited to be able to share the joy of learning with my future students.
Q: What is your dream job after graduating?
A: My dream job after graduation is becoming a 3rd grade elementary school teacher.
Q: What is your advice to the student-athletes just starting their collegiate career?
A: My advice to student-athletes is to enjoy your time and have fun. Four years goes by very fast, try not to dwell on the bad games and losses. Focus on the memories you make with your teammates and enjoy the time you get to spend playing the sport you love.
Alura Troilo – Senior from Philadelphia, Pa.
Q: How long have you been playing your sport?
A: This is my 4th year playing tennis at Neumann. I started just before entering college.
Q: What is your best memory playing your sport before Neumann?
A: My favorite memory playing my sport before Neumann was the first time I picked up a racquet and immediately was addicted to the sport. My brother was a freshman at Neumann and I was a senior in high school. He came home one day and said "I am going to join the tennis team at Neumann." We all looked at him and said "Tennis? Do you even know how to play?" He said, "No, but I will learn." He needed someone to practice with outside of the team's practice time so I decided I would learn too.
Q: What does it mean to you to be named Captain?
A: I am honored to have been named Captain for the Neumann Tennis Team. For me, being captain means gaining the respect of your teammates through leading by example and setting the standard for effort and commitment. I help create a positive and supportive environment by giving 100 percent effort at every practice and match. I am a collaborative leader that values everyone's input. My goal is to help my team grow and celebrate success together.
Q: What is your major and why?
A: My major is Marketing. I specifically want to be in the sports industry, helping create awareness of a team's brand and image through entertainment, fan connections, and partnerships.
Q: What is your dream job after graduating?
A: I want to work with the Philadelphia Phillies or the Philadelphia Flyers full-time.
Q: What is your advice to the student-athletes just starting their collegiate career?
A: My advice to any student-athlete is to always stay open to growth and continuously look for ways to improve. Make your presence and contribution meaningful to your team by showing it through your actions, work ethic, and commitment.
Logan Gorbitz – Senior from Superior, Colo.
Q: How long have you been playing your sport?
A: I've been playing tennis competitively since my freshman year at Neuman. Before that I had just played recreationally, and once I got to Neuman my freshman year I really started playing competitively and have really enjoyed it.
Q: What is your best memory playing your sport before Neumann?
A: My best memory playing my sport before Neuman would have to be with my sister. I really enjoyed playing with her. She played in high school. So, playing with my sister and having fun with the sport is sort of how I got involved with it.
Q: What does it mean to you to be named Captain?
A: Yeah, it means a lot to be named a captain, obviously a huge honor. I think I get a lot of the leadership and how I've become a person from my parents and how they raised me, so definitely appreciate all they've done to put me into this position and just help the team as much as I can and help the younger players become the best versions of themselves as well.
Q: What is your major and why?
A: So, I am an exercise science major with a focus in strength and conditioning. Really found a passion in sports playing all these years and this gives me the opportunity to stay in sports and then also develop athletes to their best abilities.
Q: What is your dream job after graduating?
A: Dream job after graduating would be a coaching position, ideally in hockey, where I'm also able to use my strength and conditioning background to train athletes, and then further down the road, I would really like to become an athletic director one day.
Q: What is your advice to the student-athletes just starting their collegiate career?
A: My biggest advice to student athletes starting their college career would be to obviously just enjoy every moment of your time as an athlete and then outside of that, just finding that passion that is outside of sports, but also being flexible and knowing that you're going to change a lot over the next four years. But just having that drive and learning how to succeed is going to go a long way later in life past college.
James Leuzzi – Senior from Philadelphia, Pa.

A: To be a captain my main priority is to support all the guys and help the team in any way I can whether that is on or off the court.
Q: What is your major and why?
A: I am majoring in business administration with a minor in entrepreneurship. Hopefully in the near future, I would like to own a business.
Q: What is your dream job after graduating?
A: I don't necessarily have a dream job. Owning a business of my own is my main goal.
Q: What is your advice to the student-athletes just starting their collegiate career?
A: Work hard both in the classroom and on the field/court and support your teammates.
