IMMACULATA, Pa. – The Neumann University Baseball team dropped an 11-1 decision against Immaculata University in an Atlantic East Conference game on Friday afternoon.
After a scoreless first inning, Immaculata got on the board in the second on an RBI single. Neumann responded in the third as
Jackson Armiger singled down the right field line to lead off the inning.
Matt Starchville moved him to second on a sacrifice bunt and
Anthony Rakotz drove him in with an RBI single, tying the game at one.
The Mighty Macs retook the lead in the fourth on an RBI double and a sacrifice fly. They broke the game open in the fifth with a two-run single, a run-scoring passed ball, an RBI single, and a two-run triple to extend the lead to 9-1. In the sixth, Immaculata added an RBI single and a sacrifice fly.
Armiger reached twice, going 1 for 2 with a walk and a run scored. Rakotz was 1 for 4 and drove in the only run for the Knights.
Josh Lillis got the start on the mound and was dealt the loss.
Neumann (12-8-1, 5-5 Atlantic East) and Immaculata will continue their three-game series with a doubleheader on Saturday, starting at 12:00 PM.
