NEWARK, Del. – The Neumann University Men's and Women's Track & Field teams went down to the University of Delaware to test their personal bests at the Delaware Invite on Thursday and Friday.
The action started on Thursday afternoon in the women's hammer throw with
Alli Siravo getting the best distance for Neumann competitors with a 30.82-meter toss.
Sydney Wilson broke her personal record with a throw of 24.35 while
Savanah Kirk went for 15.45. In the men's javelin, Richard McClay led all Knights with a throw of 34 meters. Both
Isaac Rose and Omofoma Ekhator hit personal bests with distances of 26.41 and 21.55. To close the day,
Kyleigh Joniec was third among Division III competitors in the women's javelin with distance of 27.95 meters. Wilson went for 19.75 and Kirk for 17.60 meters.
Friday started for Neumann with the men's 4x100 relay, and the team of
Nahshon Harrison-Fobbs,
Ty Billingslea,
Ethan John, and
Jamar Davis finished with a time of 44.44 seconds. In the women's 1500,
Ingrid Suarez-Ramirez got to the tape in 6:07.88. On the men's side,
Bryan Castro finished fourth among DIII runners with a time of 4:32.25.
Ciana Rosado had a good performance in the women's 400, finishing fifth among DIII runners with a time of 1:05.50, a personal best.
Jamar Davis got his own top mark on the men's side with a time of 53.24 seconds.
Next up was the women's 100-meter dash and Leila Dennis earned a time of 14.94 seconds. Two Knights made the DIII podium in the men's 100 as John finished second with a time of 11.48, and Harrison-Fobbs came in third with a time of 11.65, a personal best. Jameen Ross, Feyisara Olufehinti, and Davis rounded out Neumann's participation with times of 12.12, 12.24, and 12.5. In the women's 800,
Katie Baier finished in 2:56.8 and Castro was fourth in the men's race among DIII runners with a time of 2:06.53.
In the women's 200-meter race, Rosado finished with a time of 28.7 seconds. John finished the men's race with a time of 22.7 with Harrison-Fobbs finishing in 23.43 seconds. Ross followed with a time of 24.98 and Billingslea had a time of 25.32. Suarez-Ramirez battled in the women's 5000 with a time of 23:46.58. In the men's 4x400, Castro, Harrison-Fobbs, John, and Davis ended with a time of 3:34.91.
In the field events,
Leilia Dennis competed in the women's high jump at completed a leap of 1.45 meters. In the women's discus, Kirk threw a distance of 14.16 meters. The women's shot put, Neumann wise, was led by the effort of Wilson with a throw of 8.17 meters. Kirk followed with a throw of 7.11.
Neumann will be back in action on Thursday when they compete in the Lincoln University Invite.
