ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's volleyball team fall short to Stevenson University, 3-0, in Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Commonwealth action on Wednesday evening. Set scores were 25-23, 25-19 and 25-15.
Julia Solomon led the Knights with eight kills.
Melissa Eddy tallied seven kills and 12 digs.
Emma Kovacs handed out 16 assists.
The Mustangs scored the first three points of the match before the Knights rallied for the next five points with five kills. Neumann held an edge for a bit, including a 21-17 advantage. Stevenson then scored the next four points to pull even. The Knights tallied the next two points, but the Mustangs put together three kills and a block for a 25-23 set one win.
Stevenson jumped out to an early 7-2 lead in the second set. Neumann chipped its way into the deficit and pulled within one, 11-10, on a four-point run with three kills and a service ace. The teams then traded leads down the stretch. The Knights held an 18-16 advantage, but the Mustangs scored nine of the next 10 points to take set two, 25-19.
The Mustangs took another early lead in set three, but this time the Knights could not chip into the deficit this time. Stevenson came away with 25-15 set three and 3-0 match win.
Neumann (4-8, 1-1 MAC Commonwealth) hosts FDU-Florham on Friday evening as part of Homecoming Weekend. Action is slated to get underway at 6:30 PM.
