ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's ice hockey team was victorious over Adrian (Mich.) College, 3-2, Saturday afternoon to complete a weekend sweep and begin the season 2-0.

Adrian ended the 2008-09 season No. in the polls.

Nicole Alexopoulos opened the scoring in the first period, 3:24 into the game. Holly Williams and Jasper Thomson assisted on the goal. 

Jessica Schroeder put the Knights up 2-0 in the second period, from Diane Peters and Nicki Blazenko. Blazenko then scored a goal of her own at the 15:22 mark. The power play goal was assisted by Stephanie Nakamura and Diane Peters. 

Jessica Grubbs scored both goals for the Bulldogs, but they could not erase the 3-0 deficit. 

Shannon Donnelly made 31 saves in net for her first collegiate win of her career. Neumann will host RIT next weekend to open ECAC West action. The puck is set to drop at 7 p.m. on Friday and 3 p.m. on Sunday.
