The Neumann University Club Baseball team finished the fall part of their season at 2-4, taking games from Villanova and UPenn. Although they let a couple games slip away from them, there is a lot to look forward to heading into the spring.
Freshman
Danny Padilla raked at the plate hitting over .800 in the first weekend and transfer John Abbott proved to be a valuable addition, showing that the new guy can hold down center field and get on base for some of the bigger hitters on the team.
Senior
Paul Cavanaugh emerged as the ace for the squad, picking up both wins for the Knights this fall. Freshman
Jarrett Langrell also shined, coming up with some clutch hits and plays in right field.
Sophomore
Derek Keough held down the middle infield and set the tone at the top of the lineup. Junior
Sam Rowan showed some versatility helping the team out by playing outfield, 3
rd base, and even got two starts on the bump. Junior Jeff Hammons continued to impress on the mound and shut down any opposing rallies in relief. Finally, Sophomore Colin Kelly was a workhorse behind the plate catching four of the six games this fall.
Head Coach
Scott Hammell managed some great games and put a young lineup in a position to win each game this fall. Coach
AJ Koscelansky showed that he will be a valuable member of the staff with the improvement in the field from last year.
The club still needs to face the top teams in the conference in St Joe's, Temple, and Rowan this season, but the team will turn some heads come spring.
