written by: Head Coach Scott Hammell

Neumann University's Club Baseball Team will look to continue to gain traction, with eyes set on the program's first post-season appearance in 2017. The Knights return a nucleus of players who began clicking on all cylinders at the end of the spring 2016 term, and are looking to build on that success this fall.

The lineup with be predominantly filled by upperclassmen, with juniors Sam Rowan (Baltimore, MD) and C.J. McGrath (Upper Darby, PA), along with sophomore Derek Keough (Philadelphia, PA) leading the way. Expect to see Keough as the table setter at the top of the lineup, while Rowan and McGrath will look to drive in runs out of the middle of the lineup. Sophomore transfer Jonathan Abbott (Blackwood, NJ) hopes to make an immediate impact on the diamond after transferring from Westminster College (NCAA, Division III).

On the mound, senior Paul Cavanaugh will look to close out his career on a high note. The senior right hander has served as one of the top arms in the rotation for his previous two years in the program. Seniors Michael Carbonara (Glassboro, NJ), Zach Ford (Stratford, NJ), and Matt Janicki (New Castle, DE) will be some of the names leading the competition for innings in 2016-2017. Jeff Hammons (Oreland, PA) will strive to keep opponents at bay out of the bullpen as he did last season. The junior boasts an impressive 0.00 ERA for his career.

Rowan and Hammons will serve as captains, due to their leadership both on and off of the field. Junior Jeff Dellafranco will enter his first year as Club President, serving as the administrative liaison between the team and student government in addition to his duties at second base.
