ASTON, Pa. – Four members of the Neumann University women's lacrosse team were honored with awards from the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) on Wednesday morning.
Brittany Cassidy,
Kaitlyn Conrad and
Gabby Curry led the way for the Knights, each earning first-team all-conference honors.
Lydia Beckman was named second-team all-conference, while Curry picked up the team's nomination for the CSAC All-Sportsmanship team.
Cassidy was Neumann's best midfielder this season, leading the team in both ground balls (38) and caused turnovers (22) and ranking third in draw controls (36). She was also excellent in the Knights' attack, finishing third on the team in both goals (32) and points (39). Her three game-winning goals were also tied for the team lead.
Conrad has been sensational all season as the team's leading scorer. The junior forward has a team high 76 goals and 32 assists for 108 points on the season. Her 76 goals and 108 points in a single-season are both program records. The attacker's 7.63 points per game lead the CSAC. In addition to her outstanding offensive statistics, Conrad has also been a force in other areas, picking up 30 ground balls, 34 draw controls and causing 13 turnovers.
Curry is enjoying a fantastic senior season in goal for the Knights. The net-minder has gone 9-7 this year in goal, including a 5-3 record in conference play. For the season, she has a 12.51 goals against average and a 0.472 save percentage. She has made 168 saves this season in just over 900 minutes in goal.
Beckman has been a force for Neumann on the defensive end of the field. The junior defender leads the team in draw controls with 52, while also picking up 24 ground balls, and causing 12 turnovers. She also has one goal to her credit, coming in a 19-6 win over Sage on March 10
th.
Neumann finished conference play with a record of 5-3 on the season, picking up the No. 4 seed in the upcoming CSAC playoffs. The Knights will wrap up their regular season schedule on Thursday, April 26
th with a non-conference game at Rowan University, before beginning their quest for a conference title on Saturday, April 28
th with a CSAC first-round playoff game versus No. 5 Keystone College at 12:00 PM.
