Neumann Athletics Retires Hedden’s #28

ASTON, Pa. – On Saturday, March 29, Neumann Athletics retired Mike Hedden's No. 28.

In his four-year career, he lit the lamp 96 times, with the next closest player scoring 61. In recognition of its most prolific goal scorer, Neumann University retired Hedden's No. 28 jersey in a ceremony at the Mirenda Center on March 29. He is just the eighth Neumann student-athlete to have his number retired.

A 2009 graduate, Hedden served as an assistant captain on the team that won the Division III National Championship in his senior year. He was named the program's head coach for the 2023-24 season. Hedden was inducted into the Neumann University Hall of Fame in 2017.

Over his career as a Knight, he was awarded ECAC West All-Conference team honors in all four seasons. In the Neumann career record book, he sits in second for games played (108), sixth in assists (67) and second in points (163).

"Mike has been an integral part of Neumann Athletics history and its successes both as a student-athlete and a coach," said Athletic Director John Krimmel. "His impact on the university is represented by this tremendous honor of having his jersey retired and cementing a place in the rich traditions of the men's ice hockey program. I could not be happier for Mike, his family, his team, and all of his teammates over the years."

As Neumann's coach, Hedden led an impressive improvement in 2024-25, his second year at the helm. The team finished with a record of 16-7-3 and was the No. 3 seed in the MAC postseason.
