LANCASTER, Pa. – The Atlantic East Conference announced the weekly awards for Track and Field on Tuesday afternoon and Neumann University's
Kyleigh Joniec was honored as the Women's Field Athlete of the Week.
Joniec fouled in her first throw but in the second round, set the tone with a mark of 27.91 meters. In the third round, she improved by two meters with a 29.53. Her fourth round throw was the winner as she again improved by two meters with a throw of 31.46 meters, a new personal best. Four of her six attempts on the day would have won her the competition as she surpassed the field by over three meters.
Joniec competed at the Gwynedd Mercy Last Chance Invitational and eclipsed the rest of the competition in the javelin throw. This weekend, Joniec and her teammates will test their results against the rest of the conference at the Atlantic East Championships, hosted by Gwynedd Mercy University.
