LANCASTER, Pa. – The Atlantic East Conference announced their postseason awards for Track & Field and four Neumann University athletes were bestowed honors.
Jodi Johnson was honored twice as he was named to the First team for both the 3000-meter steeplechase and the 800-meter.
Sahdahya Addy was named to the Long Jump First team.
Wyatt Boyer and
Kyleigh Joniec earned Second team honors, Joniec in the Javelin Throw and Boyer in the 400-meter.
Johnson won the 3000-meter steeplechase on Saturday afternoon with a time of 10:55.52. His time was 13 seconds ahead of his closest competitor. After the second lap, he trailed by three seconds, but by the time he got to the fourth lap, he was leading by four seconds and pulled away for the Atlantic East championship. In the 800-meter on Sunday, he won the title with a time of 1:58.98, a very tight victory by only two hundredths of a second.
Addy is the Atlantic East Conference Long Jump champion as she had a top leap of 5.31 meters. She started at 4.57 meters and steadily improve throughout the competition, nailing that top mark on her sixth and final attempt. The junior earns her fourth career postseason award, and her second in the Long Jump after being named to the second team last season.
Boyer finished the 400-meter in a time of 50.20 seconds for a second-place finish at the Atlantic East Championships. His time was just one second off of the pace and he was almost two seconds clear of the third place runner.
Joniec turned in a runner-up throw of 34.56 meters, beating her personal best, and the Neumann University program record. Her top throw came in the fourth round, improving by almost four meters from her first throw. Her is her second postseason award after being named to the first team in 2024.
