ASTON, Pa. - Neumann University Director of Athletics and Recreation,
John Krimmel, is proud to announce that Kiriam Yordan has been named the new Head Coach for the Men's Volleyball program. He is the second head coach in the program's history.
Yordan comes to Neumann from Girard College, an independent college prep school in Philadelphia, where he was the head coach for both the boy's and girls' volleyball teams. Before that, he was the girls' volleyball coach at the Perkiomen School in Parkesburg, where he was also an English teacher. Simultaneously, he served as an assistant coach for Eastern University's men's squad for the 2023-2024 academic year.
When reflecting on his experience, Yordan noted, "Strong programs are defined by three characteristics: a well-defined culture, strong emphasis on player development, and investment on athletes. That is what I bring to Neumann Men's Volleyball. At the Perkiomen School, where my coaching journey began, I had the opportunity to develop and hand off a strong, competitive program built on the foundation of a unified team identity rooted in mutual responsibility, open communication, discipline, and community pride. This approach to program development resulted in two league championship appearances (winning one), and two PAISAA tournament appearances."
A native of Puerto Rico, he is a graduate of Hazelton Area High School in 2016 and Eastern University in 2020. With the Eagles, he was named captain in his senior season. Yordan is currently the head coach for East Coast Power Volleyball club in King of Prussia, where he oversaw two national-level teams.
John Krimmel commented on the direction of the team. "The future continues to be bright for Neumann Men's Volleyball, and it is even brighter with Kiriam Yordan leading our program. Kiriam has a tremendous passion for volleyball and impacting those he coaches. His outlook for the program and his previous experience playing and coaching in the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) is the perfect combination as we transition to the MAC in the 2026-27 academic year. Coach Yordan will lead our program with the utmost integrity and professionalism. I truly can't wait for the Spring 2026 semester to see all that our team accomplishes on the court. Also, I am looking forward to seeing Coach Yordan enhancing our recruitment efforts and bringing camps and clinics to the community resulting in the continued growth of the sport of Men's Volleyball."
"I am excited to join Neumann University and lead its Men's Volleyball program", said Yordan. "Firstly, I would like to extend my gratitude to
John Krimmel for his confidence and trust in me. I would also like to thank Kimberly Feeny, Boys' Director at VEVA, for her mentorship and friendship. As a coach, I lead with a transformational and collaborative approach. I do not see my role as one of managing players, but rather as a mentor and guide who helps his athletes find their voice and strength -- on and off the court. I believe when players are empowered, respected, and cared for as students and emotional beings, they will bring their full selves to the game and perform at their highest potential. Our players are not just players, they are full human beings with needs, desires, and aspirations -- and most of that has little to do with volleyball. My job as a coach is to help our student-athletes receive the support they need in order to be who they want to be. As I begin my tenure at NU, I look forward to building our recruitment efforts, developing our men's volleyball program from a technical standpoint, and helping with the growth of the overall Athletics Department."
Here is what some of Coach Yordan's former athletes and colleagues have to say:
"Coach Yordan is an excellent coach who truly understands the game of volleyball. He was my high school coach and English teacher, and he taught me life lessons that go beyond volleyball. He has a talent for teaching players how to improve their skills and work as a team. He pushes us to work hard, but he also supports us when things get tough. Coach Yordan leads by example — always showing dedication, discipline, and respect. He helps players grow not only as athletes, but also as people. Neumann University Men's Volleyball is very lucky to have him as Head Coach, and I believe he will help the team achieve great success" (Lorena Sanchez, former athlete, Seton Hill Volleyball — DII).
"The Neumann Men's program is in great hands with Kiriam, and will benefit from his high energy and detail-oriented coaching style. His ability to create an impactful experience for student-athletes will be evident on and off the court. I am excited to watch the program flourish and succeed under coach Kiriam's leadership" (Christopher Smith, Club Administration, Vanguard Elite Volleyball Academy).
"Kiriam brings focus, genuineness, and competitiveness into his coaching. His approach balances training, intensity, and team connection very well. He will elevate the program At Neumann University and each of the student-athletes" (Kimberly Feeny, Boys' Director, Vanguard Elite Volleyball Academy).
