The first half of the 2025-26 Colonial States College Hockey Conference (CSCHC) season has been nothing short of a rollercoaster. From the official puck drop in late September through the final horn in December, the league has seen the rise of a dominant powerhouse, a grueling battle for the middle seeds, and a baptism by fire for the conference's newest members.
Fresh Faces and Shifting Tides
The 2025 season welcomed two significant additions: Neumann University and the return of The College of New Jersey (TCNJ).
Neumann has made an immediate impact, surging to second place in the standings by early December. Their physical style of play and clinical finishing allowed them to leapfrog perennial contenders like Millersville and Scranton. Conversely, TCNJ has faced a steep learning curve in their return to ACHA D2, ending the semester without a win as they look to find their footing in 2026.
Mid-Season Highlights & Stats
The offense across the league has been explosive this year. West Chester leads the pack with an average of nearly 8 goals per game, spearheaded by a balanced attack that has overwhelmed every defensive unit in the conference.
-
Marquee Matchup: The mid-November clash between Scranton and Neumann lived up to the hype. Scranton entered the game trailing West Chester by only a few points, but Neumann's 7-15 PM victory at the Revolution Ice Centre solidified the Knights' status as a true championship threat.
-
Defending Champs: Millersville University, the 2024-25 champions, have had a steadier start. While they sit in 4th, they remain dangerous, particularly as they prepare to host the 2026 CSCHC Playoffs at the Lancaster Ice Arena from February 6–8.
Player Spotlight
While full individual league-wide leaderboards are still being tallied, the "Three Stars" of the first half undoubtedly include:
-
West Chester's Top Line:Â Responsible for over 40% of the team's 79 goals in the first ten games.
-
Scranton's Defensive Core:Â Held opponents to just 20 goals in 8 games, the second-best defensive record in the league.
-
Neumann's Freshmen Class:Â Instrumental in the Knights' 9-win start, providing the depth needed to compete in the ACHA Northeast Region.
