HARTFORD, Conn. – The Neumann College field hockey team fell to Trinity College, 7-0, Wednesday afternoon in the first round of the NCAA Field Hockey Tournament.
Karli Del Rossi netted a hat trick for the Bantams and had 19 shots. Payson Sword scored two goals.
Trinity opened its scoring in the 22nd minute with the first of Swords goals. Sword netted her second goal just two minutes later. Trinity took a 4-0 lead into the break.
Del Rossi netted two of her goals in the second half to seal the win for Trinity and stamp its ticket to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The Bantams will face Rowan College on Saturday at Messiah College.
Jordan Haviland made 32 saves in net for the Knights. Trinity out shot Neumann 52-2. Melissa Malick and Kerri Sinclair had the shots for the Knights. Theresa Yurick made a defensive save.
Neumann finishes its season with an 11-11 record.
