HADDONFIELD, N.J. – The Atlantic East Conference announce their Field Hockey postseason awards on Thursday afternoon, and Neumann University was well represented.
Cadence Conti,
Gabriella Cappelli, and
Caley Gee were selected to the All-Conference First Team.
Natalie Hackett was named the Rookie of the Year while also getting picked to the Second Team.
Molly McGee rounds out the awards as the Atlantic East Elite Scholar Athlete winner.
Conti led the Knights in scoring with 11 goals and two assists for 24 points. Her 11 goals was fourth in the conference and her 24 points was third. Her three penalty stroke goals ties her own record from last year for most in a single season and her six career penalty stroke goals in the most in Neumann history. She was named the Atlantic East Player of the Week on November 3
rd and was named to the weekly Honor Roll twice. This is her second postseason award after being named to the Second Team last year.
Cappelli was named the Atlantic East Conference Player of the Week twice, earning the award on September 29
th and October 13
th. In 18 games, she had eight goals, which was fifth in the conference, and four assists for 20 points, which was also fifth. Three of her goals were game winners, which was tied for second in the Atlantic East. Last year, she was named to the all-conference Second Team.
C. Gee had an 11-7 record in goal with two shutouts. She had a goals-against average of 1.91, which was second in the conference, and a save percentage of .663. She was honored by the Atlantic East three times during the regular season, being named the Defensive Player of the Week twice.
Hackett closed out her first collegiate season with two goals and two assists for six points. She played in and started in all 18 of the Knights' games. Both of her goals were game winners. In over 1,000 minutes, she was an asset on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball.
M. McGee earned the Elite Scholar Athlete Award by virtue of her hard work in the classroom. This honor is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative GPA competing at the finals site at each of the Atlantic East's championships. The senior is majoring in Secondary Education and holds a 3.978 GPA.
