Baseball Drops Two to Wilkes

ASTON, Pa. – Neumann dropped a pair of games to Wilkes University Saturday afternoon in non-conference play. Wilkes won the first game, 4-3, in 11 innings. The Colonels then took the second game 11-0.

 

The Knights were trailing 3-1 going into the seventh inning in game one. Ray Schmoltze hit a two-run single to tie the game at 3-all in the bottom of the seventh and send the game into extra innings.

 

Shane Keister knocked in the winning RBI in the top of the 11th inning.

 

Kevin Flannigan had four hits in game while Bobby Callan had three hits for the Knights. Kevin Lengyl pitched 10 innings for Neumann and struck out six. Sean Quigley took the loss while pitching the 11th inning.

 

In game two, Wilkes scored two runs in the first and four in the second for a 6-0 lead and did not look back. Stan Sauk pitched 5.1 innings. Schmoltze went 1.2 innings in relief.

 

Neumann will host Swarthmore in a single game on Tuesday. First pitch will be at 3:30 p.m.
