CANTON, N.Y. – The Neumann University volleyball opened the 2011 season with a split at the North Country Classic on Friday evening.

Neumann won its first match 3-0 against Cazenovia College. Game scores were 25-15, 25-10, 25-12.

Natalie George had 10 kills in the match. She had only one error in 14 attempts for a .642 hitting average. Katelin Kuklentz led the Knights with 14 kills. Victoria Limmina and Gianna Jones each had eight digs.

In the second match of the nights, the Knights fell to St. Lawrence in three sets, 25-20, 25-21 and 25-20.

Cecily Scavicchio dished out 29 assists and four digs. George handed out 12 kills. Cait Cantwell notched six kills.

Kuklentz had 11 digs while Limmina and Maria Donahue each had seven.

Neumann will face Hartwick College and Clarkson University at 1 and 3 PM tomorrow in day two of the North Country Classic.
