Box Score

RADNOR, Pa. The Neumann University volleyball team beat Cabrini College in five sets (25-17, 21-25, 19-25, 25-18, 15-13) in the Colonial States Athletic (CSAC) Tuesday evening.

The Knights are on a six game unbeaten streak and knock down the defending CSAC champions in the regular season play.

The Knights set the tone for the night winning the first set. The convincing score settled the girls in rather quickly and served as encouragement.

The Cavaliers took the next two sets by close scores and it begged the question as to how would the Knights respond in the fourth set. The answer was emphatic and without hesitation a game that they weren't going to lose. They were up 14-12 and kicked it into another gear only conceding six more points in the set. Four Natalie George Kills in a row at the final stages of the fourth set was the exclamation point.

The Knights were off to a slow start in the final set losing 2-7. Three Julia Malseed kills brought the score to 6-9. George and Kuklentz alternated kills repeatedly to give the Knights a 14-12 lead and Kelsey D'Imperio killed the game off spiking the Knights to victory.

Victoria Limmina set the all-time career record with 23 digs and a total of 1670 on the evening and surpassing Meghan Wilson's (2005-2008) record of 1665 digs.

Katelin Kuklentz has had 23 kills on three separate occasions, which makes her fourth on the match record list. Every time “Kookie” got a kill, the fans would put up a big “K” sign up to represent either a strikeout of a kill, not sure though. Needless to say, the Cavaliers gym was filled with “K” signs.

Cecily Scavicchio raked in 44 assist and 10 assist to turn in a typical performance.

D'Imperio had 10 kills and five blocks on the night. Elaina Shooster had 13 digs and Danielle Kwapisz had 16 digs. Ashley Clark had 11 assist.

“The girls recognize that this was a big win, but they realize that they can't get too high or too low during the regular season,” said Coach Jespersen. “I liked our overall presence and demeanor on the court, we feel that we can improve in certain areas, but we'll take the win tonight.”

The Knights (6-0 CSAC) host Immaculata University on October 11 at 7 p.m.
