ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The Neumann University volleyball team went 0-2 in the first day of the Buttermaker Classic Tournament Friday evening.

In the first game, the Knights were defeated by Moravian College 3-0 (18-25, 19-25, 22-25).

The Knights weren't able to get settled in for the first match against Moravian, though each set was highly contested.

Victoria Limmina had 32 digs to Katelin Kuklentz 18 digs. Kuklentz and Natalie George batted down 10 offensive kills each, while Cecily Scavicchio managed 28 assist in the game. George had a .363 hitting percentage.

In the second match of the day, the Knights fell to Salisbury University 3-1 (20-25, 25-22, 11-25, 16-25). Salisbury made their way to the NCAA tournament last year and the Knights take delight in grabbing a set from them to build on.

The Knights were digging machines and accumulated 101 total digs. Limmina paced the group with 24 digs, Elaina Shooster and Danielle Kwapisz  chipped in 18 each, along with Scavicchio's 14 and kuklentz's 12digs. Kuklentz added 10 kills.

Scavicchio and Ashley Clark had 15 assist each. Kwapisz served up four serving aces and George launched over three aces.

“We are thrilled to be playing against some great competition this weekend, this will only help us in the long run,” mentioned Coach Jespersen. “I purposely wanted to challenge our girls with a tough schedule and I feel we are learning so much over a short period of time. The results don't necessary show where we are at the moment, but I hope that our learning curve and hard work will soon come to fruition with wins against these tough opponents.”

The volleyball team plays again at the Buttermaker Classic on Saturday September 8 at 10 a.m. against conference rival Centenary College and again at 12 p.m. against Washington College.
