COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Neumann University Indoor Track team opened their 2023-2024 schedule with the Bow Tie Inviitational, hosted by Ursinus College.
Courtney Humphreys got her senior year off to a great start with a first place finish in the mile, running in 5:26.12. She also turned in a third place result in the 800-meter with a time of 2:26.64.
Katie Baier made her college debut running the same two races, finishing the 800 with a time of 3:01.54, and the mile in 6:43.77. "I felt good going into today's race", said Baier. "I definitely was a little nervous but I knew I could do it".
Looking at the rest of the track events,
Kozette Quinn topped all Neumann runners in the 200-meter race with a time of 28.83 seconds.
Aniyah Holmes followed with a time of 29.11,
Janell Goldsmith had a 31.24,
Quinaya Barker had a 31.31, and
Neshaya Overton a 31.58.
In the 400, Quinn led Knights runners with a time of 1:04.77 followed by a 1:07.18 performance by Holmes. Goldsmith, Barker, and Overton rounded out the field with times of 1:14.34, 1:14.99, and 1:18.38. In the 4x400, the quartet of Humphreys, Quinn, Holmes, and Overton finished with a time of 5:15.20.
On the men's side,
Wyatt Boyer turned in a top-ten finish in the 200-meter race with a time of 23.73 seconds, followed by a 24.14 performance by
Nahshon Harrison-Fobbs, and a 27.13 by
Wayne Styles. Boyer finished top-five in the 400 with a 51.98. Harrison-Fobbs was right behind with a 54.96. Styles,
Stephen Williams,
Carlos Wylde-Gladbach rounded out the Neumann runners with times of 1:05.73, 1:06.65, and 1:09.67.
In the 800,
Augustin Ramos-Cuello had a time of 2:29.34 and Wylde-Gladbach turned in a time of 2:56.10. Ramos-Cuello also competed in the mile in 6:07.98. The combination of Boyer, Harrison-Fobbs,
Hakeem Hall, and
Tim Connell finished the 4x400 race with a time of 3:50.23.
In the field events, Hall had a long jump of 5.96 meters.
Allison Siravo tossed the shot put 9.38 meters and in the weight throw, had a result of 9.98 meters, both are her personal bests.
Neumann will next compete on Saturday, January 20
th at the Collegeville Invitational, again hosted by Ursinus College, starting at 10:30 AM
