Indoor Track Competes at Collegeville Classic

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Neumann University Indoor Track teams went out to Ursinus College to test themselves and complete at the Collegeville Classic on Saturday afternoon.
 
Courtney Humphreys finished the 800 meter race on the podium with a third place finish in a time of 2:25.22. Katelyn Baier also competed in the 800 and finished with a time of 2:58.19, an improvement over her first race by three seconds.
 
The Knights had five runners take to the track in the Women's 200 meter race. Aniyah Holmes finished with a time of 29.3 seconds. Gianna Manley-Perez was right behind with a time of 30.62. Sahdahya Addy had a 31.8, Djeneba Konake had a 32.51, and Neshaya Overton had a 32.58. "Going into the meet, I felt anxious" said Konake. "However, I didn't let that get the best of me."
 
In the 55 meter race, Kozette Quinn led all Neumann runner with a time of 8.72 seconds. Manley-Perez followed with an 8.96 with Konake and Overton behind them with times of 9.4 and 9.48. Humphreys picked up another third place finish in the 400, earning a time of 1:02.23. Holmes just missed the top 10 with a time of 1:07.34, and Addy and Overton had times of 1:18.62 and 1:21.96. The combination of Quinn, Holmes, Addy, and Manley-Perez completed the 4x400 in a time of 5:03.39.
 
In the throwing events, Allison Siravo led the Knights in the shot put with a mark of 9.45 meters. Sydney Wilson and Jaylah Flamer also competed with attempts of 7.25 and 7.17. In the weight throw, Siravo had a 10.73 and Wilson had a 7.20.
 
On the men's side, Darriel Jones earned a top ten finish in the 55 meter race with a time of 7.67 seconds. Stephen Williams had a time of 7.96, while Wayne Styles and Carlos Wylde-Gladbach had times of 8.28 and 8.34. Wyatt Boyer had the best Neumann performance in the 200 meter with a time of 23.89 seconds. Hakeem Hall recorded a mark of 25.36. Jones, Styles, and Williams closed out the Neumann race with times of 26.32, 28.37, and 29.1.
 
In the 400, Boyer finished in the top ten with a time of 53.19 seconds. Nahshon Harrison-Fobbs wasn't far behind with a 55.35. Hall and Wylde-Gladbach worked hard for their 58.85 and 1:14.67 marks. Harrison-Fobbs also worked with 800 meter with a 2:18.78 performance while Tim Connell grabbed a 2:19.42. Finally, in the long jump, Hall had a mark of 5.56 meters. Konake remarked," The team performance, in my opinion, was really good. Everyone put in a great effort in their events and showed great sportsmanship".

Neumann will compete next on Friday, January 26, in the Muhlenberg Indoor Invitational in Allentown, Pa. The meet will get started at 3:30 PM.
