Indoor Track and Field Has Strong Showing at Muhlenberg

ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The Neumann University Indoor Track and Field team had multiple top placements as they competed at the Muhlenberg Indoor Invitational on Friday evening.
 
Nashshon Harrison-Fobbs led the field in the men's 200-meter race, finishing in a time of 24.37 seconds. Hakeem Hall was right on his heels with a second place finish of 24.91. Darriel Jones and Wayne Styles ended up with times of 25.65 and 27.34. Wyatt Boyer earned  the gold in the 400-meter with a time of 53.21 seconds.
 
The combination of Boyer, Jones, Steven Williams, and Carlos Wylde-Gladbach won the 4x400 meter relay with a final time of 3:53.53. Earning a top-three finish in the 800, Harrison-Fobbs had a time of 2:18.89. Tim Connell trailed him with a time of 2:26.7 with Wylde-Gladbach grabbing a time of 2:56.91.
 
Five Knights ran in the 55-meter race with Boyer eclipsing all Neumann runners by finishing in 6.83 seconds. Jones was right behind with a 6.89. Hall ended up with a 7.09, Williams had a 7.23, Styles had a time of 7.39, and Wylde-Gladbach a 7.62. Connell was the lone miler, finishing in a time of 5:20.26, while Hall finished third in the shot put with a toss of 5.96 meters.
 
On the women's side, Aniyah Holmes and Kozette Quinn finished first and second in the 200-meter race with times of 29.39 and 29.54. Gianna Manley-Perez just missed the podium with a 29.79. Janell Goldsmith, Kyleigh Joniec, and Sahdahya Addy finished consecutively with times of 31.01, 31.77, and 31.86. Quinaya Barker closed out the Knights runners with a 32.96 second performance.
 
Courtney Humphreys picked up a win in the mile, clocking in with a time of 5:29.62 while Katelyn Baier had a 6:54.29. Neumann fielded two 4x400 meter relay teams with the team of Holmes, Addy, Konake, and Overton winning it with a 5:11.38. Baier, Quinn, Goldsmith, and Manley-Perez finished third with a 5:20.89.
 
Alison Siravo had six strong throws in the shot put with her best, 9.62 meters, being good enough for the top spot. Sydney Wilson notched the bronze with a 7.49. In the 400-meter, Konake had a time of 1:17.28. Overton and Addy also competed with times of 1:19.10 and 1:19.35.
 
Eight Neumann runners took part in the 55-meter race with Holmes grabbing third with a time of 7.85 in the final, improving from her sixth place seeding in the prelims. Quinn and Goldsmith were top-ten finishers with times of 8.01 and 8.24. Rounded out the Knights runners were Manley-Perez, Konake, Quinaya Barker, Overton, and Joniec, logging times of 8.29, 8.62, 8.65, 8.76, and 8.82.
 
Holmes remarked that she had her best meet of the year so far. "I ran the 55-meter, 200 meter, and 4x400…the last race was the 4x400, and even though I was tired, I still tried to push through and the team was able to finish first". Holmes continued, "I think the team's performance was definitely good, and everyone was pushing themselves.
 
Neumann will be back in action on Saturday, February 3rd, when they compete at the Frank Colden Invitational in Collegeville, Pa., hosted by Ursinus College.
