Welcome to Summer Knights! Where we hear what student-athletes are up to this summer:
Dominic Petruzzelli
Men's Soccer
This summer has already been one to remember! I had the incredible opportunity to take on my first long-term substitute teaching position at Strath Haven High School, teaching Geometry and Algebra 2. It was certainly challenging at times, but such a fun and rewarding experience. It was truly unforgettable! I can't wait to student-teach in the Spring!
Now that school's out, I'm back home interning with BP Environmental Services for the third straight year. This summer, I'm working in the IT department, focusing on transitional system logistics and AI programming.
On the field, I'm staying active and prepping for my upcoming senior season by playing on the U23 team for my hometown club, Vereinigung Erzgebirge (VE). I'm also competing in the VE Summer League with some of my former high school and youth teammates, along with my brother, which has been a blast.
Of course, summer isn't just about work and training, it's also about relaxing and exploring! I've enjoyed plenty of trips to the shore, and my family took a memorable vacation to Niagara Falls / Canada. I also have a trip to Minnesota planned with friends before heading to NCAA headquarters for the summer National Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) meeting.
To wrap up the summer, I'll be heading to Sacramento for the MAA MathFest, where I'll be presenting my senior capstone project,
From Statistics to Scores: Predicting Winners in Male and Female Professional Soccer Matches.
I can't wait to be back on campus for my final year and ready to make the most of every moment both in the classroom and on the field!
